Superman versus Batman (World's Finest Comics #287).

Superman has to deal with a deranged Batman in World’s Finest Comics #287. I read this one as a kid, and that image of a red-eyed, sweating Batman always stayed with me. I loved the wildness of it all; the way the swirling, exhausting mania is depicted.

Superman versus Muhammad Ali (1978)

It’s Superman versus Muhammad Ali in this 1978 comic by DC. I remember ads for this one in old comic books that I read as a kid: but I never got my hands on the actual comic itself. For a long time I was very intrigued.

This comic would have made sense until about 1976, maybe. In 1978, when this was published, Ali’s career had effectively ended and he was losing matches to journeymen and newcomers such as Leon Spinks. He’d retire three years later.
